The Man

This story takes place along time a go.
When moses asked pharaoh, ‘Let my people go.’
But the man he said, ‘No, I won’t let you go.’
And this is how the story goes.
It happens all the time,
it happened to a friend of mine.
We were slaves to industry.
Not just me, but my whole family.
We weren’t paid a bit, not even one cent.
The rich got richer, the poor got poorer.
We were filled with horror.
We needed a shepherd to set us free,
to end all slavery.
To bring us back to the 60s ...woopsies.
We had no time to make bread.
We had already fled,
to the desert.
Away from the corporation
that brainwashed our whole nation,
and left us in frustration.
The angel of death had already come,
he murdered the man’s only son.
To change him from what he had become.
Why do we kill for the dollar bill?
Is it worth the blood spill?
My mind is being torn by capitalism.
My body is being worn by consumerism.
My heart and soul is destroyed by, I don’t know?
Materialism ...I just don’t understand.
